The Household of Hammerstorm
began in Wichita, Kansas in 1987 as an organization existing unofficially within and without the Society of Creative Anachronism, SCA.
The SCA is a worldwide society of medieval re-enactors who meet on a weekly or monthly basis, dependent upon climate and inclination, to spend a weekend acting out the part of a personally created historical character.
Since that time, Hammerstorm has grown and House Hammerstorm now consists of three branch houses. The purpose of House Hammerstorm has and still remains to recreate a specific culture and time period:
Hammerstorm is a mercenary/warrior house within the Society of Creative Anachronism, SCA. As a mercenary house in the SCA, Hammerstorm is not composed solely of warriors. The house also has a share of individuals skilled in the arts that medieval persons would have. Areas of study and interests include:
•Medival Combat using Swords, Spears, Archery and Knife.
•Bardcraft
•Smithing
•Armouring
•Archery
•Bowyer/Fletcher
•Sewing and Needlecraft
•Leatherworking
•Woodcrafting
•Brewing
•Light Weapons (fencing)
•and many others.
Above all else, House Hammerstorm is a family oriented group; open to men and women, drug free and of any ethnic or religious background, with a desire to pursue an interest in the viking age.
